“Cliff and his team excavated and underpinned the basement of our 100+ year Toronto home. They basically created a basement out of nothing so we could expand the square footage of our small home. There were many obstacles to this project from the start: the pandemic led labour shortage, unforeseen surprises with a house this old (pre-existing wall and chimney that needed to removed, compromised foundation, etc.), weather conditions, a tree that needed to be removed, bureaucratic obstacles created by a new, inexperienced city inspector, etc. Despite these delays, Cliff and his team completed the project with exceptional workmanship and professionalism. Cliff, along with our engineer, made sure that no corners were ever cut and that the project was completed to the highest standards. We kept adding to the scope of the project (e.g. a walkout, heated floors, underpinning the existing small basement) and Cliff managed to complete all of these new requests despite his full schedule and other commitments. Throughout this process, Cliff was transparent and honest. We never incurred unexpected costs that were never disclosed or any of the other unfortunate surprises that others we know have experienced with other companies. It was not a quick and easy project, however, and there are still a few more items to complete before we can finish the basement and restore the landscaping, but these delays are understandably due to the unusual times we are living in and the non-standard nature of the house itself. I would absolutely recommend this company to friends and family. In fact, our neighbours are currently waiting for the completion of our basement to begin thinking about their own! I would like to add that throughout this project, every member of Cliffs team was so polite and professional, that many of our neighbours made sure to let us know how wonderful they were. They helped clear the path and dig cars out after the devastating snow storm we had in the winter, for example, and always left the site clean and tidy.”

“Underpinning 100 year old home, Clifford and his team were just what I was looking for. I kept hearing that you shouldn't trust just anyone with underpinning - - it's just too important and the company you work with needs to have true expertise in this particular field. For this reason I did a lot of research before settling on any one company for the job. Clifford was responsive from the beginning and I appreciated how quickly he was able to get me a quote. The price was competitive but the professionalism is what stood out the most. He displayed an openness that was reassuring and didn't hesitate to point out some important aspects about how he approached the work (from insurance to technique) that I could easily compare to the competition. Schedule - when it came to the timing of the project he did exactly what he said he was going to do. The project was completed on time and without any drama whatsoever. Delroy was the main foreman for my job and Delroy takes such pride in his work and was happy to give me tours and explain things I didn't understand. No Cutting Corners - when it comes to underpinning cutting corners seems like the wrong approach (both figuratively and literally). Clifford and his team did the work by the books and I really appreciated that. There were no delays occasioned by doing things the right way but some contractors will suggest that there will be. Every time we needed the city to come and inspect, they were there without delay (book it today and they are there tomorrow). Every time. My engineer was appraised of when he needed to attend and the visits were all on time and Clifford and his team always passed with flying colours. Doing it the right way gave me such peace of mind. Nice people - it's nice to get quality work done and enjoy the folks you are working with (or the folks you have hired to do the job). From the first call to our last, I was grateful for how pleasant, calm and reassuring Clifford always was. Not to be taken for granted, Clifford! I miss you and your team already. Thanks for doing all of the big and small things that made my project so successful. A resounding 10 stars for you and your team.”
